About Jodi S. Oscar

My training experiences began more than 50 years ago when I untied my neighbors lonely Shetland pony and brought him home.  Being young and naive, I didn't know that the pony with no name most certainly had never been trained or ridden.  This was because his real owners thought he was so mean.
I spent a few minutes with him and not knowing to be afraid of getting hurt, jumped up on him to ride him home to show my parents my newly acquired friend.  My parents at this point realized I was ready and quite able to take care of a pet of my own.  That's when we got my first puppy, Skipper.
Inspired by my love of Rin Tin Tin and Skipper, I began training dogs while other kids were out playing.  With no fenced in yard to train in, I figured out my own methods and processes to be able to effectively and quickly train the animals I worked with to listen and eventually understand what I wanted them to do.

I have been blessed with the gift of understanding dog behaviors and what drives them to do what they do.  I have found, if we calmly watch and listen to them they will show us why they do what they do.  With even more patience they will give us the clues as to what motivation they require to get our desired behaviors.  With this understanding I have been able use this knowledge to help dogs to understand and perform the behaviors I want them to exhibit.  I have a passion for imparting this knowledge into others.

A dog can express more with his tail in minutes than his owner can express with his tongue in hours.
